Hi! I’m Anne Travis and I work with students who have a last name beginning with the letters L-Rh. I am currently in my seventh year of school counseling here at Sheridan High School and I continue to be grateful for this opportunity.
A little bit about me… I grew up in small town Iowa and knew I wanted to move West to the mountains from a very young age. I began my college journey at the University of Iowa and quickly decided to transfer to Black Hills State University in beautiful Spearfish, SD for a change of scenery. I graduated with my bachelor’s degrees in both Business and Spanish. From there I moved to Seattle, WA and Vail, CO where I worked for the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company before returning to South Dakota to work in human resources and marketing. Back in Spearfish I met my husband, Austin, who I have spent the last 13 years with. After working in higher education for a few years as an admissions counselor and academic advisor, I decided to take the leap and earn my master’s degree in counseling and human resource development. In 2015, Austin and I both landed positions with Sheridan County School District #2 and since then have been fortunate enough to add two new family members to our crew – Ada, our 5 year old daughter and Teddy, our very busy two year old son!
Like most who reside in Sheridan, we enjoy life along the Bighorns – camping, hiking, skiing at Antelope Butte, gardening, attending polo matches and chicken ranching are how we spend most of our down time.
My passion is helping shape our future generations into productive, contributing members of our society. Stop in any time and say hello! It’s truly a pleasure and an honor to work with each and everyone of you!
